A Sneak Peek

You already know Maggie from the story of her
big sister, Molly!
Hey Friends--

So, I usually like to blog about what the Lord is teaching me each week.  But, this week, I mostly worked on a possible sequal to my book Molly's Magic Smile.  This book will be called Maggie's Merciful Heart.  And I've decided to print an excerpt here to see what you think.  I'd love it if you'd share your own stories of mercy in the comments section.

And here's your sneak peek!

Maggie had gorgeous auburn-colored hair that fell in waves to her shoulders.  She had a small spattering of freckles on her nose and cheeks and two adorable dimples when she smiled.

But Maggie’s best feature was her warm, brown eyes.  Her eyes reflected something that filled her heart: mercy.

“You have a merciful heart.”  Her mom would tell her.

Maggie didn’t know what that meant.

“What is mercy?” Maggie asked her cat, Mittens.

But Mittens just purred and curled his tail around her feet.

Then one day, Maggie was in the car with her dad.  She looked out her window and saw a man sitting on the street corner holding a sign that said “Hungry.”

As their car rolled slowly past the man, Maggie could see his sad eyes beneath his shaggy grey eyebrows.  Maggie felt her heart beat faster.

“Daddy, that man is hungry.”  Maggie told her father.  She snatched a granola bar out of her backpack.  “Here, quick, let’s give this to him!

Maggie watched as the man gratefully took the granola bar from her dad through the window.  She saw creases form at the corners of his eyes as his dusty, sun-scorched face smiled at her.  Maggie noticed that the man had brown eyes just like hers.
